We Can Do Together What We Could Never Do Alone.

We Can Do Together What We Could Never Do Alone.

There was a time when I didn’t think I’d live to see 35. Nor did I care to. At the age of 37, I was dying an alcoholic death. I didn’t care about anything or anyone. I hurt people, good people. I was like a tornado ripping through the lives of anyone who came into my path. My world was so dark, for so long, that even today I have a hard time recalling if I ever had any fun. That’s about as honest as I can get about my drinking. I barely have any memories about most of my life and the ones I do have are pretty hazy.

• On January 15th of 2010 … God reached down and rescued me from myself. He pulled me up into the light. His light. I have never looked back since. God willing, I never will. My only goal in this journey is to keep moving forward .. Far away from the miserable existence I had become.

My experience, my strength & my hope over the years has taught me that the human capacity to endure—and to do it with grace, courage, and joy—does not really depend on ANYTHING outside of ourselves. It’s an inside job. Even when life seems impossible, the brilliant light inside yourself is enough to see your way through even the darkest of times.

I thank God everyday for another day alive and another day sober.

We can do together what we could never do alone.
